As is the case with all of your other decisions, registering for gifts does take some careful consideration.  Do register at a handful of shops so that guests have options in terms of product and price.  Don't choose stores that will be difficult for guests to access, either in person, or online.  Do include your fiance in the decision making process.  Don't forget to think outside the box.  China and linens are lovely gifts, but so are kayaks and plane tickets!
