When Leslie is asked how when she fell in love with Daniel, the answer comes easily. It was love since day one she would say, although the two were just friends during their time at Rutland High School. Despite their platonic relationship and going separate ways after graduation, they reconnected, and haven’t been apart since.
After three years of being officially together, the time came for Daniel to pop the big question. His elaborate plan of a romantic gondola ride and picnic was briefly interrupted by a rainy day, but when the weather took a break, he took the chance. After the rain ceased, the couple had left the confines of their car, which had been sheltering their picnic, and set up some lounge chairs outside. When a little sunshine peaked through the clouds, Daniel hastily fell to one knee and presented Leslie with a ring.
With the desire of having an “at home” wedding combined with the natural beauty and setting that Vermont offers, the location for the event wasn’t a difficult choice. Leslie said she couldn’t of thought of a better place to have her dream wedding. Leslie and Daniel decided to hold the ceremony at the Immaculate Heart of Mary church and the reception at the Mountain Top Inn and Resort. They opted for a traditional wedding, but added a few Vermont touches along the way. Instead of place cards, guests were greeted with a different Vermont beer, such as Otter Creek or Long Trail, to direct them to their tables.
The wedding was nothing short of a success. Lelie’s sister, who had always been a huge part of her life, sang a song as she was walked down the aisle. The staff at the Mountain Top Inn provided excellent service and the DJ kept the guests on the dance floor for the whole reception. At one point, Leslie even had to ask the DJ to tell people to sit down! The newly-weds’ only wish was that everyone had a great time, and that wish definitely came true.
The bride and groom were careful to take advice from the people who have been there before, and Leslie and Daniel suggest any couple to do the same. Friends and family members offer advice because they want the wedding to be very special. Taking the time to be creative and taking care of the little things helps keep the wedding budget down. It also adds a very personal touch to the wedding.
