"Where there's a will there's a way," is an age old adage that proved to be true for Del'Rae & Brian. Having met nearly eight years ago, Del'Rae & Brian had begun their relationship as great friends. After a few years of friendship, the two became smitten with each other and began dating. A romantic at heart, Brian chose the Christmas season as the perfect time to ask Del'Rae to be his wife. There isn't a better way to begin the holiday season than with a betrothal!

After planning the wedding for over two and a half years, Del'Rae and Brian were ready to become husband and wife as well as throw a great and beautiful party. A reader of Vermont Vows, Del'Rae had taken ideas from the magazine and made them her own and was excited for her upcoming wedding day--but Mother Nature had other plans. No one is oblivious to the destruction that hurricane Irene caused throughout the state, especially those who were effected directly, two of those people being Del'Rae and Brian. Del'Rae notes that before the hurricane hit Vermont, she and "Brian had talked about the storm coming, and we honestly didn't think we would get much of any thing as far as wind and rain. We never talked about there not being a wedding, that just wasn't a thought in our mind, even after the devastation came it still never passed our lips," she says.

After the hurricane passed through Pittsfield, Vermont, where the couple is located and was to be married, Del'Rae & Brian became very busy with cleaning up the town and their well-planned wedding took a back seat. And yet the townspeople of Pittsfield refused to let this be the case. An extremely community oriented state, Vermont is known for it's caring people and helping community members. A few days before the wedding was supposed to take place, Sharon Mayer, a wedding consultant in Pittsfield, Vermont, approached Del'Rae and offered to take over the planning of her wedding. Del'Rae was shocked that her wedding was a priority to anyone but felt a true sense of friendship. After this, people kept offering to help the couple: all of a sudden Del'Rae & Brian had a reception site, a cake donation, a photographer, and a DJ.

One of the most amazing facets of the wedding was the catering, done by Joyce & Roger of the Swiss Farm Inn. Roger, a lively man with a big heart said that Pittsfield is a small town, with a close community and everyone was thinking of Del'Rae & Brian as well as the community at large. Wanting something to celebrate and be joyful about, everyone lent a hand in the wedding preparation. Joyce & Roger provided a multitude of food, ranging form cold salads to pork and local ingredients!

Reminiscing about her day, Del'Rae notes that the event was "just what the town needed," and that "The Beauty of Simplicity photography by Nichole Baxter was my greatest joy of the day, next to my dress." A truly heartwarming tale of friendship, loveship and community, Del'Rae & Brian were married on a beautiful day in September among their friends, family and nearly the entire town of Pittsfield.
