For the second year in a row, Irene Maston showcased her skills at the National Capital Area Cake Show in Annadale, Virginia., cinching first place in the competition.

At this year's show, the contestants were given the information of a fictitious couple  who were to be married in two weeks, the theme being "simple yet elegant". Each designer was also given their wedding reception site, the bride's giown brand and style number, the color and style of the bridesmaids' dresses, the overall color palette, the types of flowers used in the bouquets, the couple's personalized monogram, and the bride's occupation of a cake designer. They were also informed that the fictitious couple would be honeymooning in Italy and that the bride's favorite artist was Van Gogh.

The guidelines of the competition instructed each participant to use at least four specific pieces of information regarding the couple to create the perfect cake for their wedding.

Despite the stiff competition - several of the designers had won nationwide cake shows and were certified as "Master Sugar Artists" - Irene's gorgeous cake simply couldn't be beat. Congratulations, Irene!
