Dear Well Wed,

Because I am having a vineyard wedding, I am looking to buy vintage wine corks and engrave hearts on the side of them and then insert the place cards into them by carefully cut a slit into the cork to fit the placecard. I will also use a small fine brush and colored paint to create grapes and vines and write the names in script.

I like place holders that double as favors as well and I have a few ideas. I like the idea of giving away tiny potted plants. This would be great for garden weddings. I also make button jewelry so I would love to incorporate this theme into the place holders/favors. Edible button shaped cookies could work, or even a card when buttons attached. I also like the idea of having tiny jars of spread-ables like jam and honey with each guests name and table number written on the label.

I love adding little vintage touches for things like placecards. Right now I'm on the search for old/vintage buttons to attach throughout my stationary : )

My DIY place card alternative:

Buy wholesale wine glasses, and a can of chalkboard spray paint. Cover the wine glasses with newspaper, and tape off a rectangle at the center of the goblet. Spray the chalkboard paint, let dry. Write the guests names and table number with chalk on the wine glasses, and set up a tiered display instead of the usual place card table. Voila! Instant place holder AND wedding favor!
